...the ad with Hosoi in Thrasher Magazine from the 1980s that said "Every artist needs his canvas" and displayed all the colors of Chucks worn by Hosoi. This shoe is the fulfillment of my dream as a kid (yeah - most guys wanted to be a professional althlete - I just wanted my ankles and knees to hold out for as long as possible!)... Original Chucks with a good insole, and this one is Lunarlon from Nike. A good gum-sole and heavier-duty canvas. Doesn't get any better than this.
Pros: breaks in easy, looks great, good board feel, cool colors, stylish, durable, sole keeps grip a long time, comfortable
Cons: none.

Dual density full length PU insole. High density padded foam collar and tongue. Contoured heel stabilizer. Custom metal eyelets. Grippy gum rubber sole. Vulcanized construction. Imported.

I loved the Chucks as a kid and now as a 40-something skater, I really appreciate the support from the good insole, molded heel counter and memory foam tongue and ankle padding.
The waxed canvas are a lot more durable than I originally thought - definitely better quality than the original canvas in traditional Chucks. I still used shoe-goo to protect the sides where my foot touches the board when I ollie, but I did skate them a few days without the Shoe Goo and the canvas was just fine. They also have the same amazing board-feel as the originals with just enough padding to make them comfortable.
To any other "old guys" that skate and are thinking about these (or maybe don't skate but want some nice shoes), I am overweight and I still skate every day (bowls, parks, street, etc.). I've run out many times in the bowls with no issues whatsoever (i.e., no knee pain, no slipping on the cement, etc.). These shoes are the most comfortable I've EVER owned. The pair I have now I've skated for more than a month and worn the soles down pretty well, and they still have a long way to go. I also wore them all day for Field Day at my kids' school this past weekend and I walked (pushing 400+ lbs containers of water from station to station) for 6 hours and my feet never hurt. My feet were soaked and the shoes never lost their grip; I never felt like I was in any danger of slipping while making my rounds to refill the water stations. Great feature is that the canvas dried nicely and the shoes don't even look like they were ever wet. I dried them on a rack in my dryer and then let them finish air-drying for 2 days before wearing them again.
I'm grateful that Converse made these shoes. Better late than never, I say.
Pros: breaks in easy, long lasting soles, looks great, good board feel, cool colors, stylish, durable, good cushioning, good ankle support, sole keeps grip a long time, comfortable, good grip
Cons: none

I'm so glad Converse released these shoes. After they destroyed the classics with the felt-covered soles that don't grip to the board, they came back with an updated classic that is fantastic.
With classic Converse Chucks and Ox's, I wear one full size smaller than my "regular" (i.e., other shoe brands) size. With the CTS line of shoes, I wear just 1/2 size smaller, and I suspect it has to do with the better insole and bit of memory foam in the tongue.
I have three pairs of the CTS ox shoes. Burgundy, optic white and black suede. I've been wearing/ skating the Burgundy shoes but all are really comfortable and have just replaced the Vans Classic Pro as my favorite skate shoes.
I grew up skating Vans and Converse Chucks in the 80s. I'm a fan of both brands however Converse has really got it going on with their update of a classic shoe, and this shoe line has won me over completely. I'll wear out the Vans I have, but I don't think I'll be buying any in the future, as long as Converse keeps putting out the CTS line.
So far, the only "con" is the one that has existed since I first started skating Converse - the canvas wears out more quickly - a standard "ollie patch" on would be a welcome addition. That's the main reason I skated Vision Street Wear canvas high tops in the 80s - the uppers were 100% Chuck Taylor clones but had an ollie patch and slightly different tread pattern.
Pros: breaks in easy, looks great, good board feel, stylish, good cushioning, comfortable, good grip
Cons: non-durable

These shoes fit my foot so well. They took a few days to break-in, but after that, they're awesome. After 30 years of skating, I've found a shoe I really like. I'm a Vans nerd and have worn Vans for the past 27+ years, however I've come to a point where I needed support for my feet. Insoles don't cut it. Cup-soles are too thick for my taste - can't feel my board. A friend was skating Adidas and recommended them so I tried them. These shoes are amazing. I've had to run-out several times at the park (darn scooter-kids!) and in my other shoes, my feet would be killing me after 30 minutes at the park. With these, I can skate AND walk around all day in them with no issues whatsoever. I highly recommend Adidas for anyone that needs shoes with arch support and heel protection.
Pros: breaks in easy, good board feel, cool colors, stylish, durable, good cushioning, comfortable, good grip

Does this shoe run big?

I've heard that this shoe runs big, I've heard a half size big and a full size big I was wondering which of the two is the most correct?
I usually wear a size 12. I found for Chucks (original, classics) they're one full size larger so I wear an 11. For the CTS line, I found them to be 1/2 size larger, so I went with 11.5, which is perfect. I suspect the difference is due to the memory foam in the tongue and the better insole in the CTS shoes.
